Academic Services Center

The Academic Services Center (ASC) is designed to serve as a study/tutor and computer lab for students. Computers are available to students for academic and research work. Students needing additional assistance can inform their instructor and contact center staff.

Bookstore

The College Bookstore is open Monday through Friday to all students, staff, and visitors. Textbooks, classroom supplies, and other novelty/clothing items can be purchased.

Career Development and Placement Office

Career planning and placement services are provided to all UTTC students. Although employment is not guaranteed, every effort is made to place students into jobs directly related to their vocational program, interests, and preferred locations. All students must complete a credential file including transcripts, resume, and references before graduation.

Center for Student Success

The Center for Student Success is committed to providing support services to enhance lifelong learning and personal growth to UTTC students. The Center offers a variety of services including academic guidance and support, assistance in the transition to college life, counseling (individual, family, group, and vocational), referral services, intervention services, and campus educational programs. A holistic approach is utilized to promote the overall health of UTTC students.

Cultural Arts Events

One of the foremost challenges of UTTC is its commitment to the needs of Native Americans in the cultural preservation of their heritage. The United Tribes Cultural Arts Program is host to two internationally-recognized cultural arts events, the United Tribes International Powwow and the National Miss Indian Nations Pageant, and other cultural events. The Powwow is held the first Thursday through Sunday after Labor Day. Students attending UTTC are encouraged to participate in these prestigious events that exemplify the culture of American Indian people.

Extracurricular Activities

In addition to student government, UTTC has other activities for students. It offers programs to support student development and positive attitudes in students. UTTC students take part in the Student Congress sponsored by the American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC). Teams represent the College in a variety of competitions in the national contest held each year in conjunction with the AIHEC Spring Conference. The UTTC Chapter of Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) sponsors activities that help students create partnerships with business, organized labor, and government.

Library

The UTTC Library is located on the main floor of the Education Building. The Library’s approximately 6,000 volumes are an integral part of the academic life of the college, supporting the vocational and academic programs through reference and research. It has a sizable Native American collection. Approximately 100 magazine and journal titles and 40 daily and weekly newspapers are maintained to provide students and staff with materials for study, research and recreational reading.

The library’s holdings are in INFO*LYNX, an automated catalog. INFO*LYNX can be accessed 24 hours a day at infolynx.org or unitedtribestech.com and select Virtual Library. This computerized catalog provides on-line access to library resources, member regional libraries and to several periodical indexes with many full-text articles. Computer access links the UTTC Library to the major academic and public libraries in North Dakota. Resources not available locally may be requested through interlibrary loan. The Internet can be accessed for research at the library. The college community is encouraged to utilize library services and facilities. Library instruction to promote information literacy skills for lifelong learning is offered to classes and individuals.

Student Government

UTTC recognizes the importance of student voice and encourages the participation of students in the Student Senate. The Senate is comprised of representatives of each of the vocations. Elections from the membership at large are held annually for the offices. The offices include: Student Body President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Parliamentarian. The Student Senate is provided with a budget and staff advisors. The Student Senate plans activities throughout the school year for the students.
